Women are often the backbone of families, workplaces and communities, yet too often their health takes a back seat. The theme of Women’s Health Week (Jean Hailes for Women’s Health), “Say yes to you” was a reminder for women to prioritise their health checks, rest, movement and self-care. When women thrive, families, workplaces and communities thrive too.

Neighbourhood Centres Queensland (NCQ) has partnered with a Queensland Health initiative to support women and girls* across Queensland.

The Queensland Women and Girls’ Health Promotion (QWGHP) Program is an initiative from the Queensland Women and Girls’ Health Strategy 2032, and aims to empower women and girls from all walks of life across Queensland to achieve their fullest potential for health and wellbeing.

The following 20 Neighbourhood Centres are delivering a variety of projects and programs, designed in response to their community’s strengths and interests:
The Neighbourhood Hub, Cooktown District Community Centre, Marlin Coast Neighbourhood Centre, Port Douglas Community Service Network Inc, Ravenshoe Neighbourhood Centre, Mount Isa Neighbourhood Centre, Palm Beach Neighbourhood Centre, Beaucare – Beaudesert Community Centre, Gailes Community House, CO.AS.IT, New Farm Neighbourhood Centre, Nundah Neighbourhood Centre, Sandgate Community Centre (SANDBAG Inc.), Hinchinbrook Community Support Centre, HUB Neighbourhood Centre, Mt Gravatt Community Centre Inc., Open Hands Community Care Limited, The Y Cannon Hill Community Centre, Pomona & District Community House, Chinchilla Community Centre, Murilla Community Centre Inc, Tara Neighbourhood Centre, Bundaberg & District Neighbourhood Centre, LiveBetter Monto Neighbourhood Centre and North Burnett Community Service.

*When we use the terms ‘women’ and ‘girls’, we mean any person, regardless of their physical traits or characteristics, who identifies as a woman or girl. We also recognise that women’s health issues can impact people who do not identify as women.
