“I came from Sydney to Queensland, knew no-one, no contacts outside my centre. QFCA membership gives me support from colleagues in local centres, and we recently won a $10,000 ANHCA grant!”

“When I started as manager of our Neighbourhood Centre I was new to the Community Services Sector. As my organisation was a member of the QFCA I was contacted by them and welcomed to the role, I have since built excellent networks with the help of the QFCA as well as had the opportunity to appear before a parliamentary inquiry and attend a number of networking events. I really value the support and information provided by the QFCA.”

“I’ve been working and volunteering in neighbourhood centres since 1987. Neighbourhood centres have never really been seen as valued in the sector or with the State Government. QFCA has been working hard to increase the visibility and messaging around the work of neighbourhood centres within the sector and the Department. They also have a voice with the Minister which is great.”

“When I was at meetings with other Neighbourhood Centre Managers it seemed like many of our organisations were facing the same challenges. It just made sense that we should work together to tackle shared issues rather than battling through alone, which is what NCQ is all about. Becoming more involved in NCQ has been a great way for us to feel like our voice is being heard and that we are having an impact on future policy decisions and the continuing evolution of Neighbourhood Centres in Queensland.”
