Description

In 2025, NCQ developed two micro-credentials courses:
1. The Introduction to Neighbourhood Centres course takes approximately 2 hours to complete.
2. The Overview of Community Development in Neighbourhood Centres course takes approximately 4 hours.

These free, self-paced online courses, hosted by Central Queensland University, have been developed by Neighbourhood Centres Queensland (NCQ) in collaboration with sector representatives, senior community development practitioners, and academic partners. They reflect the rich knowledge and experience embedded within the sector.

Both courses include access to resources and additional learning materials to support your ongoing learning journey. These courses will be valuable for anyone working in Neighbourhood Centres, and we encourage Centre staff to share them with their colleagues, including volunteers, students on placement, and especially board members. They are also valuable for those working alongside the sector, including government employees, peak bodies, other community service agencies, or anyone wanting to understand community-led practice. These micro-credentials offer an important opportunity to build a shared understanding of the role Neighbourhood Centres play and to strengthen or reinvigorate your Centre’s commitment to community development. Feel free to share the enrolment link with anyone who may benefit. Learners who complete these courses will receive a digital badge – a verifiable record of the knowledge and skills gained. Badges can be downloaded, shared online, and added to your LinkedIn profile, CV, or email signature to showcase your achievement.
