Neighbourhood Centre Week, happening 9-15 May, celebrates the role and impact of neighbourhood and community centres in local communities across Australia.

In Queensland, this year’s theme is ‘Local Community Resilience’. The theme highlights the importance of locally-led approaches, local relationships and vital local knowledge that centres hold and use to support their community. The theme also celebrates the exceptional resilience of communities, that have faced multiple disasters, and continue to work toward their recovery.

Resource Packs

Note: the links will take you to Google Drive, where you can download a zipped folder containing the Resource Pack.
We have shared this as a live google drive as we will add more resources as we create them.

Included in the Resource Packs

As well as a range of logos (PNG format) and social media tiles, each pack contains the following resources:

A4 Photo Signs

Give your members, guests, and event participants the opportunity to express why your Neighbourhood or Community Centre is important to them (PDF) by printing the A4 photo signs and supporting them to draw, write or have a photo with their sign. Please share to social media with the hashtags #SupportNeighbourhoodCentres #LocalCommunityResilience and #NCWeek2022.
There are a few signs to choose from, including: ‘I Love my local Neighbourhood Centre’ or ‘I support my local Neighbourhood Centre because…’ ‘I support my Local Neighbourhood Centre. I support Local Community Resilience’.
Supporters such as MPs, Supportive businesses and partner organisations may prefer to use ‘I support’ whilst others may prefer to communicate love.

Posters
You can use the editable A4 poster in word to promote your unique event. Print it and post it on noticeboards or businesses in your community, or share it as an image in your local communities’ Facebook Groups (these are often listed by suburb name).
You may also want to use the generic ‘celebrate Neighbourhood Centre Week’ in your centre.
Printing the Sector Impact Snapshot summary and sharing it with event attendees is a great way to share and celebrate the impact of our sector.

Editable Media Release
Send this media release to your local media outlets and other contacts such as relevant bloggers, social media pages, and businesses. Offer a photo opportunity.
We recommend you supply the media release with a PDF copy of the Sector Impact Snapshot summary mentioned above.

Editable Invitation to send to your MP and elected representatives from government
Inviting elected officials to your Neighbourhood Centre Week event is a great way to build a relationship and advocate for your Centre.  Adapt the letter below to invite your local member and/or head of your local Council or Shire to be part of your event. You may also want to invite council staff, particularly those from the community development department.

Social Squares
Use the social squares to countdown until Neighbourhood Centre Week begins (9 May) and celebrate the impact of centres with ‘Did you know?’ facts.
Use the hashtags #SupportNeighbourhoodCentres #LocalCommunityResilience and #NCWeek2022.

Facebook Banner Image
Update your centre’s Facebook page with the banner, or use it for the Facebook event cover image.

Email Signature
Ad the image to include this image to promote the week to everyone you email.
