On November 25 and 26, twenty Neighbourhood Centres from across Queensland came to Brisbane to participate in the intensive 2-day Charge Up! energy literacy training.

The Charge Up! project is being delivered by NCQ in partnership with QCOSS and Energetic Communities Association (ECA), and Melanie Maher from NCQ participated in the training.

With cost of living and energy prices impacting communities, Neighbourhood Centre staff have been on the front line to support people in their community to navigate energy issues. Charge Up! aims to make energy literacy accessible, providing households with the information they need to lower their energy costs. With Neighbourhood Centres being important community connectors and hubs of information, building the knowledge and capacity of Energy Educators at Neighbourhood Centres ensures energy information reaches Queensland’s most vulnerable households in a way that is engaging and effective.

The training was led by Audrey Cetois and delivered by Audrey and subject matter experts from ECA, packed full of valuable insights and practical knowledge to support Centres to gain further understanding of the energy system. This will empower their communities with tools to manage their energy usage and reduce their energy bills. The training days were filled with laughter, inspiration and connection.

The project is funded by the Department of Energy and Climate’s Enable Grants Program.
