At the end of last year, NCQ CEO, Cate Akaveka, along with NCQ Chair, Sandra Elton, visited over ten Neighbourhood Centres across Far North Queensland, including Kuranda Neighbourhood CentreMareeba Community CentreECHO in MalandaBetter Together in AthertonMarlin Coast Neighbourhood CentreMossman Neighbourhood CentrePort Douglas Community ServicesBabinda Task ForceCommunity Support Centre InnisfailHambledon House Community Centre, and Manoora Neighbourhood Centre.

The visits highlighted how each Neighbourhood Centre is uniquely place-based, reflecting the specific needs and strengths of their local community. Cate had the chance to engage with staff and volunteers, learn more about their programs and services, and see the vibrant, community-focussed spaces they have created to support local people.
