NCQ’s Growing Resilience Forum was held on 10 July 2023, with the goal to strengthen relationships, shared understanding and collaboration between Neighbourhood Centres and the Disaster Management sector across Queensland.

The forum brought together over 100 people in a full-day in-person event, featuring the launch of the Queensland Neighbourhood Centres Strategy for Disaster Resilience 2023-2026, tailored Disaster Resilience workshops for Neighbourhood and Community Centres, opportunities for connection between Centres and the broader Disaster Management Sector, and key speakers with a focus on Disaster Resilience.

The Growing Resilience Forum was held at the same venue as, and one day prior to, the 2023 Disaster and Emergency Management Conference (DEMC) for Australia and New Zealand (July 11-12). To help support the attendance of regional and remote Centres, Neighbourhood Centres Queensland sponsored accommodation and travel, as well as providing discount tickets to all Centres attending the DEMC conference in the days following the forum.

The Growing Resilience Forum and Conference sponsorship (including sponsored registrations) has been jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
